At Tremblant, we’re proud of our stunning landscapes, high-quality facilities, and numerous events throughout the season. If you’re planning to enjoy winter from its very start in November and December, here are some local tips to make the most of your first runs.
Early Ski Season
Season Opening in November
The ski season at Tremblant typically kicks off around November 22, when we open our first slopes. Before we can open, snowmaking is key to ensuring excellent skiing conditions right from the beginning. Fortunately, we’re equipped with one of the most advanced snowmaking systems in North America, with more than 1,200 snow guns covering an impressive 213 hectares (527 acres) of our 309 hectares of skiable terrain.
The first trails to open are usually the P’tit Bonheur and Nansen Haut green runs, perfect for beginners, along with others like the Beauvallon for the 24h Tremblant.
Gradual opening of the skiable terrain in December
In the following weeks, we gradually open more slopes and areas. The season starts with about ten trails open on the North and South sides, but this quickly grows. By mid-December, if weather conditions allow, we typically reach over 80% open trails, including Edge and Soleil areas.
From opening day onward, we always plan to have terrain park features ready for our freestyle enthusiasts. The Alpine Park typically opens in its entirety before the holiday season, offering a full range of jumps, rails, and boxes to get your freestyle fix early in the season. This steady expansion provides a nice variety of runs for all levels right from the start.
Weather and Snow Conditions in Early Season
In November and December, our temperatures are often milder than what we experience later in the season, in January or February. This early season is perfect for skiing in moderate temperatures, ideal for comfortably enjoying the slopes. However, a bit of humidity is common until Lake Tremblant fully freezes. To stay comfortable on the slopes, we suggest dressing in layers and opting for waterproof and breathable clothing to stay dry despite the humidity. Once the lake is frozen, the climate becomes more stable and drier.
First snow days and snowmaking
As for the snow itself, it evolves quickly thanks to our snowmaking system and the first natural snowfalls, which usually begin around mid-November. We typically receive an average of 62,4 cm of snow in November and 114,8 cm in December. Early-season snow can sometimes be a bit heavier, offering a softer, slower surface that’s perfect for regaining confidence on the slopes. Our teams, especially the groomers, ensure the trails are always in top shape, no matter the snow conditions. You’ll be able to enjoy a beautifully groomed surface for your first runs of the season!
Average Annual Snowfall: 400 cm
