On August 9, storm Debby brought record rainfall. The Johannsen stream overflowed at the base of the North Side, washing out three culverts along Duncan Road. The road was completely severed and is now impassable. Guests will not be able to access the North Side parking lot this fall. Despite the damage, our teams continued to reach the North Side base near the pumping station. Using the existing temporary road and appropriate vehicles, they were able to carry on with essential project work.
After analyzing various scenarios for the reconstruction of Duncan Road, we have commissioned the construction firm Tisseur Inc. to replace the old culverts with a new steel-wood bridge. The bridge will be operational and usable by the start of the 2024/25 ski season, which begins on Thursday, November 28, at Tremblant.
Completed Works to Date and Next Steps
A partial reopening of Duncan Road is planned for November 18 or 19. Access will be reserved exclusively for Station Mont Tremblant operational needs.
