Since its inception in 2001, what started as a local challenge has transformed into one of Canada’s most significant charitable events. For 24 consecutive hours, participants ski, run, or walk, but beyond the physical effort, the heart of the event lies in its mission: to raise funds to support children’s causes. This is done in partnership with key beneficiaries: Fondation Charles-Bruneau, CHEO Foundation, CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, and Fondation Tremblant.
The 24h will blow out the candles on its 25th anniversary
The 24h Tremblant event will celebrate its 25th anniversary from December 12 to 14 on the slopes of Tremblant. This milestone edition marks a symbolic moment: the 24h Tremblant will become the 25h Tremblant, a special anniversary edition extended by one hour.
The weekend lineup promises plenty of surprises: the much-loved Midnight Countdown is back, delighting participants who enjoyed it last year! On stage, get ready to groove with Qualité Motel, The Jammin Kid, Marie-Mai and her guests, Fouki, and DJ Montana, who will heat up the foot of the slopes! And this is just a taste, as more exciting announcements are yet to come.
A Brief History of the 24h Tremblant
Inspired by the 24h of Villars in Switzerland, Jacques Villeneuve and Craig Pollock, with the help of Simon St-Arnaud, who has served as executive producer from the very beginning, came up with the idea of bringing this ski challenge to Mont Tremblant Resort to unite the community around a philanthropic cause. In 2001, 700 participants came together for the very first edition of the Tremblant 24h Grand Prix, raising an impressive $300,000 for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
Over the years, the 24h Tremblant has become one of the largest winter charity events in Canada. To date, nearly $63 million has been raised, funding critical pediatric healthcare and research initiatives. Here are some key milestones:
- 2001: First edition with 700 participants and $300,000 raised.
- 2003: Fondation Charles-Bruneau becomes a key beneficiary.
- 2007: For the first time, the 24h surpassed the $1 million mark in donations.
- 2011: Walking and running are now fully part of the 24h event.
- 2020: Virtual edition: Despite the pandemic, the 24h remained active and managed to raise $2.4 million in donations!
- 2021 : The CHEO Foundation becomes a new beneficiary, supporting even more children in the Ottawa area!
- 2022: Alpine hiking is introduced as a new discipline.
- 2023: Record-breaking year with $6.7 million raised and over 4,500 participants. Two new beneficiaries, CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation and Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation, were added.
- 2025: 25th Anniversary of the 24h Tremblant
