Tremblant’s story began in 1939 with the installation of a first chair lift. Nearly 80 years later, the ski resort’s landscape has changed significantly. Tremblant is now a world-class vacation destination appreciated by visitors from around the globe. At its very heart is a picturesque pedestrian village with more than 75 boutiques, restaurants and activity partners. This much-appreciated village would not be the same without the loyal retailers who elected to set up shop here.

@All rights reserved // In 1991, the Intrawest corporation bought the ski center wishing to renew this four-season recreation and tourism  center of international calibre.

Discover the soul of the resort through those who have been in Tremblant for many years and who are celebrating a milestone anniversary this year!

50th anniversary

Magasin de la Place

Le Magasin de la Place is celebrating a whopping 50 years! The oldest store in Tremblant, it opened its doors in 1968. The store offers a wide selection of products and equipment from the best ski and snowboard brands. Keep an eye out: plans are being made to celebrate this historic anniversary during the winter of 2018–2019!

25th
anniversary

 Le P’tit Caribou

Lauded as one of the world’s best après-ski bars, Le P’tit Caribou has been a staple of the region’s nightlife for a quarter of a century. With its ingenious cocktails, tasty snacks, live shows and unique atmosphere, Le P’tit Caribou is an experience not to be missed!

The mythical bar has undergone many changes in the 25 years since it opened, including major renovations and an expansion in the fall of 2016. One of the very first businesses to set up shop when the Tremblant resort was created and Intrawest arrived, Le P’tit Caribou used to be a small, intimate bar equipped with a simple stone pizza oven, where people would party while nibbling on peanuts in the shell. Quickly the victim of its own success, the bar has never stopped adapting to keep its patrons entertained. Anyone remember the hot tub on the deck and performances by such well-known bands as Arcade Fire, Jonas and The Tea Party?

Lounge

Twenty-five years later and the party don’t stop! Le P’tit Caribou has kept up a tradition loved by revellers: dancing on the bar at the end of the night!

On November 30, 2018, Tremblant will join Le P’tit Caribou to celebrate this milestone anniversary. Hope to see you there!

Resto-bar Le Shack

Flagship restaurant in Tremblant’s pedestrian village, Le Shack is located in the former Chalet des Voyageurs building, which was erected at the foot of the mountain’s south slope in 1939 by Joe Ryan, the visionary eccentric millionaire who founded the Mont Tremblant ski resort

Formerly a popular gathering place for skiers, who would brag about their exploits on the mountain to the confirming nods of their friends, Le Shack continues to offer one of the best après-ski atmospheres in Tremblant. Named Le Shack for “sugar shack,” to pay tribute to Quebec’s heritage, it evokes the camaraderie of sugaring-off days and welcomes you to the foot of Mont Tremblant for a warm post-ski atmosphere that is both traditional and aligned with the times.

Come celebrate the 25th anniversary, November 23.

Engel & Völkers

It was in 1993, a few years after the pedestrian village opened, that the Engel & Völkers real estate agency (then Intrawest Real Estate) got settled in its current location in the heart of the Vieux-Village. In 2003, it became Playground Real Estate and began reselling properties. It adopted its current name in 2015. Engel & Völkers continues offering the same excellent service, fuelled by a desire to serve the Tremblant community well.

Installé dans le même bâtiment au coeur du Vieux-Tremblant depuis 1993.

La Savoie

The La Savoie restaurant will be celebrating its 25th year in Tremblant in December of 2018. Come have an authentic Savoie experience in Vieux-Tremblant, in the heart of the pedestrian village. Enjoy an unbeatable culinary experience year-round, with authentic dishes from the French alps: mouth-watering raclette hot off the melter or stone grill, and a variety of delicious fondues. Bon apétit!

20th anniversary

Ya’ooo Pizza Bar

For two decades now, the Ya’ooo Pizza Bar has served some of the best pizza in the area. Whether you’d rather enjoy a slice in the dining room or in the comfort of your hotel room or condo, Ya’ooo’s can’t be beat. Come share a family meal or “party of four” (beer and pizza) with friends. This fall, discover Ya’ooo’s newly-renovated dining room. See you there!

La Forge Bistro-bar & Grill

La Forge has always offered a warm welcome in the Laurentians. In addition to being a form meeting point for villagers, it was also one of the first ski shops. In-the-know skiers at the time would come get their skis repaired and for an extra $0.10, could also get them waxed. Sitting around the crackling fire, a happy bunch would brag about their exploits on the mountain that day. It is here that several ski legends came into being.

In honour of its past, La Forge welcomes visitors from around the world to its perfect après-ski spot. We hope that many tall tales will be spun here for years to come!
