Present on the Quebec sports scene for about three years now, winter mountain bikes (aka Fatbikes) were invented for trekking on the trails of the Iditarod in sub-Arctic Alaska. With tires between 3.5 and 5 inches wide (versus a standard mountain bike being between 1.75 and 3 inches), Fatbikes are very versatile and capable of crossing various types of terrain. In Tremblant, many trails are now dedicated to Fatbikes and are constantly groomed thanks to the Vélo Mont Tremblant organization. This means we can enjoy the pleasures of cycling all winter long on the multifunctional trail The Villageoise, through the linear park Le P’tit Train du Nord and on several mountain bike trails.

Although mountain biking can be too intimidating for many, biking on snow offers a very different experience. Obstacles like rocks, branches and roots are non-existent and a beautiful carpet of snow is there to catch you if you fall!

Want to try it for yourself? Visit the boutique du Passant, located in Chalet des voyageurs, until April 10, 2016. From the pedestrian village, discover the trails surrounding the mountain base and along the Diable river.
