Ski season is almost upon us! There is only a month to go before the launch of our 2016-2017 winter season. Our team has already been working on mountain operations for a long time, in order to prepare the slopes and infrastructures. Since last March, the team has been performing maintenance tasks continuously; each ski lift was thoroughly looked over with a fine-tooth comb by our technicians, to ensure the safety of our team members and guests.

We are now ready for the snow ! In order to get the machines running, the temperatures must remain around -5 °C (23 °F) for a period of at least 4 consecutive hours. Now, guess what…. A first band of cold weather circled Tremblant and allowed us to start snowmaking operations. Skiers and snowboarders, do you hear the snow guns?

Snowmaking efforts began last night, 26 octobre 2016

Like our last two winters, our early season snowmaking plan will aim to allow guests to ski from the mountain top to bottom on the South and North sides’ slopes. The first trails we plan on snowing are: Petit Bonheur and Beauchemin Bas on the North side and La Crête, Beauvallon Haut, Beauvallon Bas, RoyScott and Johansen on the South side. Of course, the slopes used for the 24h of Tremblant event are always a priority, since the event takes place early in the season (December 9 to 11).

Mother Nature and climate change require our mountain operations team to continually be adapting and ready for any type of situations. With that in mind, our goal is for each trail to be snowed in at full width before quickly moving on to the next. This will ensure a better quality of snow and greater security for skiers and snowboarders.

We look forward to seeing you back on the slopes soon!
