A mechanical failure stopped the Duncan Express chairlift at the end of the day on December 28. This new failure is not related to last year’s issues or to extreme weather conditions of the past few days.

Shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, the conveyor’s clutch jammed at the base of the lift. Work had to be done on the lift prior to using the auxiliary motor to evacuate the skiers on the chair. The safety system triggered multiple stops, greatly slowing down this process.

Our mechanics worked late through the night to repair and test the systems to ensure the Duncan Express could be reopened this morning.

We follow very strict prevention measures at Tremblant, and are hands on to minimize problems caused by normal wear and tear of mechnical systems. This breakdown occured despite the investments and efforts put into the Duncan before the beginning of the season.

We apologize for any inconvenience this event may have caused to our guests during this very busy period. We thank you for your understanding and invite you to come and enjoy exceptional snow conditions for this festive season.
