Update – Season opening postponed

UPDATE – November 24, 2015

The slightly cooler temperatures of recent days have encouraged our snow making operations. We’ve enjoyed good conditions during the day with the thermometer sometimes reaching the -10? Celsius mark at night! Current weather allows us at this time to produce snow 24 hours a day. We are therefore pleased to announce that the opening is still scheduled for Thursday, where skiers and snowboarders will be welcomed at the Express Gondola as of 8:30 a.m. They can then access the Crête and P’tit Bonheur ski runs and the Lowell Thomas lift. And that is just beginning; our teams will work twice as hard in the coming days to provide more slopes for the weekend. We invite you to check snow conditions page to stay up-to-date on the latest trail openings.

UPDATE – November 20, 2015

Our teams remain on constant alert to start up our powerful snowmaking system as soon as conditions are favorable. In recent days we have worked on many slopes and the future is bright with colder temperatures ahead. In fact, several favorable snowmaking windows are emerging, including one in the night from Friday to Saturday which is certain to be a very productive evening. We are well positioned to deliver skiable terrain for next Thursday!

Owing to poor snowmaking temperatures and weather forecasts, we’ve decided to push back the opening date of our 2015-16 ski season.

The Tremblant Mountain Operations team is poised to maximize on cold snaps and snowmaking opportunities between now and opening date – Thursday November 26 – when we will welcome skiers and riders at 8:30 a.m.

Despite Mother Nature’s challenges, we are confident and enthusiastic about launching the ski season on November 26. For our very latest snowmaking news, check back for updates to this blog post.

TGV lift UPDATES

OFFICIAL COMMENT – DECEMBER 10th

The TGV lift will be closed all day on Thursday, December 11. This planned shutdown will allow the completion of some minor work.

The lift will return to its normal operating hours starting Friday morning.

We thank you for your understanding and wish you a great day on the slopes.

OFFICIAL COMMENT – DECEMBER 4TH

Since our last update, our team has been working non-stop on getting the TGV quad lift up and running as soon as possible. Work has been progressing intensely for almost two months, seven days a week and many nights. This determination resulted in very positive effects on the restoration project:

–          All the chairs have been re-installed on the cable.

–          The work on the mechanics and electrical wiring has been completed.

–          The test phase and system adjustments have also been completed.

And so, it is with great pleasure that we will open the TGV lift earlier than anticipated. Skiers and snowboarders will be able to use the lift as of this Saturday December 6th, a full two weeks before the scheduled date!

Thank you for your patience and understanding during this process.

See you on the slopes!

OFFICIAL COMMENT – NOVEMBER 28TH

We are pleased to inform you that a number of important steps have been taken since our last communication.

The electrical distribution equipment, as well as several crucial electrical components, have been received. In addition, the lift transformer has been replaced. This week, in order to pursue the operations, the TGV lift was activated thanks to a diesel engine.

Once again, we are glad to observe that work is proceeding well and respecting the planned schedule.

OFFICIAL COMMENT – OCTOBER 30TH

Our team has been working tirelessly since the fire that affected the base of the TGV lift on October 12th. Although the situation is changing day by day, we are taking this opportunity to share with you the latest news.

Following the incident, we swiftly took concrete steps in making the lift fully operational as quickly as possible. The team began by developing a reconstruction plan with the manufacturer and its experts. This plan being completed, the next step, which we are currently dedicated to, is attaching said plan to a timeframe. The timing will depend on the delivery of parts and the coordination of different projects. Based on our actual progress, we are considering Friday December 19th as the date the TGV will resume operations. Please keep in mind that given the nature of the work and the contingencies associated with such a project, not overlooking the temperature, this date could change. We will keep you informed of the evolution of our operations.

Moreover, we confirm that the snow making capacity has not been affected by this incident. The size of the skiable terrain early in the season – from the opening of the resort to the reopening of the TGV lift – should be equivalent to previous seasons during this period. To provide such a ski area the snow making plan will be adapted, making the Duncan Express lift operational right from the opening of the season. In other words, you should have access to the same size of skiable terrain, but it will be structured differently. Of course, it depends somewhat on Mother Nature; to which we look forward to help us deliver on our snowmaking plans.

Again we thank you for your understanding. Until our next communication, let us wish for the return of cold temperatures and snowflakes in the Tremblant sky!

OFFICIAL COMMENT – OCTOBER 17TH

According to the assessments associated with the fire that affected the base of the TGV quad chair early in the evening of Sunday October 12, we are now in a position to confirm that according to preliminary inspections, damages appear to be less extensive than initially anticipated.

Our teams and those of the lift manufacturer have deployed every effort required to ensure the TGV’s prompt return to service: damage assessments are advancing, engineers are currently evaluating reconstruction solutions while cleaning and reconditioning tasks have begun.

We wish to expressly thank community and industry members who voluntarily mobilized around us, providing invaluable logistics and material support.

The Kandahar becomes the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tremblant

Façade Le Kandahar

We have a big announcement to make: Le Kandahar hotel will become the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Tremblant in early winter 2014-15. With a 3.2 million dollar renovation, the landmark hotel will be upgraded to Holiday Inn standards, bringing it up to par with other Holiday Inn hotels around the world. The project will include a complete overhaul of the hotel’s bedrooms and most of its common spaces, such as the lobby, fitness center and breakfast room.

The bedrooms will see the biggest change:

– All the furniture will be replaced: sofas, armchairs, tables, nightstands, chairs, beds and mattresses.

– The wallpaper, curtains and carpet will be upgraded.

– The kitchenettes will be completely rejuvenated with new cabinet doors and backsplash.

In the newly refurbished hotel, you will find the same level of service and accommodations you’ve come to expect from Le Kandahar, just with a major facelift. The décor will thus reflect the quality and standards of a world-renowned hotel chain. For those of you who enjoyed the amenities of Le Kandahar hotel, fret not! Some things won’t change—you will still enjoy all the things you’ve come to love: free Wi-Fi and continental breakfast, fitness center, outdoor swimming pool (seasonal), whirlpool bath and sauna.

This big transformation is set to be completed as of early winter 2014-15.

Here’s a glimpse of the makeover with the breakfast room, enhanced with the installation of new counters, tables and overhead lighting:
